11 days and counting....

Wow, eleven days left before my surgery. The time flew by. I met with the surgeon a couple days ago to go over all my pre-op stuff, do my EKG, and some blood work.  The last few weeks I've been getting emails from the coordinator about this or that that may be an issue and she would end each email with a "don't worry".  Seriously, you're missing this, or this letter from your doctor is too vague...and don't worry....don't worry?  Well, I guess I shouldn't have worried because the doctor didn't even bat an eyelash.  He's good to go.

And then I had to write all the checks, to the surgeon, the surgical assistant, the anesthesiologist, and the hospital.

That was a little painful.

I mean that could have been a family trip to Europe, a new basement, or new landscaping for the backyard.  But I'm spending it all on myself.

On myself....

Which brings me to the awesome nurse in the pre-op testing for the hospital.  She told me..."remember, the day of your surgery and your recovery are about YOU, don't worry about being a nurse, don't worry about being a wife, don't worry about being a mother. Take care of YOU"

I know not what she means.

So capstone project, had to postpone for one week because I didn't finish everything in time.  New finish date is June 4th.
Surgery June 5th
Last day of school June 6th (taking the last two days off because of surgery)

Wonder if I can add anything else in that week of June?

To the two people who read my blog...HAVE A HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!

  1. So excited for you!!! And that nurse is's your time to let everyone else take care of you for a few days.

    Happy Memorial Day weekend!!!

  2. Yea! Not much longer. It's so worth every penny!!! YOU'RE worth every penny.

  3. Im a self pay to but after the guilt you forget about what you could have done with the money and think about what you can do when you've lost the weight. After surgery you need time for you not only physically but mentally too. Its a real emotional ride when you can't eat like you used to. It will get better with each day and if you have to hide in the bathroom please do so if only to collect your thoughts - you have my permission. Keep blogging and we'll see you on the other side soon!!! All the best!

  4. This is one of those times that it is okay to think about yourself first. Mommee is right it can be an emotional time and you will need to be doing some self analysis.

  5. It is still family money: yes, it is going directly to something of yours (your physical self). but as a healthier self, you will be so much better equipped to care for your family, to enjoy those family vacations at a healthier weight, to have the physical strength to tackle some home improvement projects yourself. Ok, if that pep talk doesn't work try the one Dom often says when we have a major expense: "eh, it's only money!". You can't take it with you....and you can't take that extra weight with you as far as you can take a healthier-stronger you. Good Luck!

  6. your paying for extra years on your life....that is priceless! Getting soon!!!!
